Privacy Policy

Budgies ("we," "us," "our") operates a deal-intelligence website that helps you find, compare, and evaluate retail deals. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed Budgies to work without requiring you to create an account or hand over personal information — most of what we track is anonymous and stays in your own browser.

Information we collect

We do not require registration, and we do not collect your name, email address, or payment information to use the core site.

• An anonymous identifier. The first time you visit, your browser generates a random ID and stores it in your browser's local storage. This lets features like Saved deals and Price alerts work across visits without an account. It is not tied to your name or any other identifying information we hold.
• Saved items and watched prices. If you save a product or set a price watch, we store that association (your anonymous ID plus the product/offer) so we can show it back to you and notify you of price changes.
• Click and session data. When you click through to a retailer (our "Snag It" links), we record the offer, the price shown, a session identifier (stored as a browser cookie), and which page the click came from. This is used to measure which deals are useful and, where applicable, to earn an affiliate commission — see "Affiliate links" below.
• Standard technical logs. Like most websites, our infrastructure providers (hosting, content delivery) automatically log requests, which can include your IP address and browser type, for security and reliability purposes.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember your anonymous identifier and session token. We use a first-party session cookie to attribute affiliate clicks correctly. If we enable advertising (for example, Google AdSense) or analytics in the future, those providers may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies; we will update this page if and when that happens.

Affiliate links and how we're paid

Budgies earns commissions when you click certain links and make a purchase on a retailer's site, through affiliate programs including Rakuten Advertising, Skimlinks, and similar networks. This does not change the price you pay. Product and pricing data shown on Budgies is sourced from these affiliate networks and third-party product data providers, and reflects what those sources reported at the time it was collected — prices, availability, and promotions can change on the retailer's own site at any time.

Third-party sites

Clicking a deal takes you to a retailer's website, which is not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of any third-party site. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Your choices

Because your anonymous identifier lives in your browser's local storage, you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for Budgies — this will disconnect your saved items and price watches from future visits. We do not currently offer a way to request deletion of server-side records tied to that identifier since no personal information is attached to it, but you're welcome to contact us with questions.

Children's privacy

Budgies is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
